Kevin McKidd has officially joined the cast of Hulu's upcoming courtroom drama, "Conviction," where he will star alongside Elisabeth Moss. This new series promises to deliver intense legal intrigue, drawing from the compelling narrative of Jack Jordan's acclaimed novel of the same name.
The plot centers on Neve Harper, portrayed by Moss, a determined and self-assured attorney on the brink of a career-defining case involving a husband accused of murdering his wife by arson. However, her professional and ethical boundaries are tested when an enigmatic figure begins to blackmail her, forcing her to compromise her principles to secure an acquittal and prevent her hidden secrets from being revealed. McKidd's specific role remains undisclosed, adding an element of mystery to his involvement in this complex legal thriller. He joins an impressive ensemble cast that includes Linda Emond, Jimmi Simpson, Sebastian De Souza, Adam Godley, Zainab Jah, Ashley Zukerman, and José Zúñiga, all contributing to what is expected to be a captivating drama.
"Conviction" was greenlit by Hulu in February, with David Shore, known for his work on "House" and "The Good Doctor," serving as the showrunner and an executive producer. Moss and Lindsey McManus are also executive producing under their Love & Squalor Pictures banner, alongside Jordan, The Littlefield Co.'s Warren Littlefield, Ann Johnson, Lisa Harrison, Bert Salke of Co-Lab21, and Erin Gunn for Shore Z Productions. McKidd, a seasoned actor with a distinguished career, recently concluded an 18-year tenure as Owen Hunt on "Grey's Anatomy." His notable filmography also includes a memorable performance opposite Ewan McGregor in Danny Boyle's "Trainspotting," as well as roles in HBO's "Rome," NBC's "Journeyman," Pixar's "Brave," and the dark comedy "Home Sweet Hell." Beyond acting, McKidd founded Ferryman Films, a production company dedicated to showcasing original stories rooted in his Scottish heritage.
The addition of Kevin McKidd to "Conviction" further strengthens an already promising cast, enhancing the show's potential to captivate audiences with its gripping storyline and talented performances. This series not only highlights the complexities of the legal system but also delves into the moral dilemmas faced by individuals under extreme pressure. It serves as a reminder that integrity and truth often come at a significant personal cost, and the pursuit of justice can unveil profound human struggles and resilience.
